Dr. Golan at North Shore Vascular 1-847-441-2700

During hemodialysis (or “dialysis,”) a machine acts as an artificial kidney removing the impurities from the blood. Frequent access to the veins is needed to perform hemodialysis. Dialysis access provides the necessary entranceway into the bloodstream for a patient’s regular dialysis treatments.
Dr. Golan, a specialist in both arterial and vein procedures for 25 years, performs two types of procedures to provide access portals for dialysis – depending on the patient’s individual medical condition:
Fistula – Dr. Golan joins an artery to a vein.
Graft – Dr. Golan inserts a flexible mesh tube under the skin to connect an artery to a vein.

Dr. Golan also treats arterial conditions such as Abdominal Aortic Aneurysm (AAA), Peripheral Arterial Disease (PAD), and Carotid Artery Disease (CAD).
